I remember him retelling the story of how God gave him the idea to broadcast the Word into the world by short-wave radio during WWII. I also remember him telling about the plane crash mentioned in the link above, and how he was originally supposed to be with those 3 men, and how hard it was to go on with the work with such grief. Everyone in church cried, remembering it or hearing about it for the first time.

I love how you retold a bit of the story of how he met Marie. When I was 13, he was my minister. I loved him so much. I remember kids lining up to enter the church bldg during VBS while he sang, "We're marching, marching, marching into Bible Schoowel" - he had a very distinctive way of pronouncing "school."

He kept his pockets full of hard candy and gum for kids and adults. He'd ask, "Will you preach God's word when you grow up?" or "Will you marry a preacher?" Since our church teaches that we are ALL lay preachers, we could all say "yes!" and receive our candy.

There are so many interesting stories in his book about he and Marie going all over the world to preach. Since it all happened before I was born, I had no idea of any of this until I read his book.

One of his favorite stories was when he yelled, "I love you, Grace!" as the new Princess of Monaco went by after her wedding to Prince Rainier III. He was in the right place at the right time to see her pass. He later saw an interview where she told a story of the prince bristling upon hearing someone yell "I love you, Grace!" and what was the meaning of that, and she had to tell him that Americans call each other by their first names, and obviously the man was an American.

I wish his book was for sale on Amazon. This couple touched so many lives.

Maurice died on March 8, 2019. Here is a short obituary. https://christianchronicle.org/maurice-hall-founder-of-world-christian-broadcasting-dies-at-98/ (actually, he was 99 on March 5)

I enjoyed reading your post about him, and the comments. Unfortunately my mother was in the hospital ,and Marie Hall was a patient in the room next door ,she was very ill at the time . Maurice noticed us and asked my father if he could meet my mother, and that's how we met .We noticed he was a man of God right off the bat . He told us how Marie was feeling ill and we held hands and prayed for Marie's health .We talked for hours with Maurice ,he talked about TRUTH and how much he believed in it .We were touched with his words and what he stood for .We talked till 2 am ,the man did not act like he was 92 years old I'll tell you that !.He had so much energy to go on and on ,it was amazing .A lot of things were amazing about Maurice .He touched our hearts and it saddens us to find out about Marie's passing. She was a very sweet person ,she was so ill when we met her we expected the worse ,with her last rights being given and all.But with the power of God by the next hour of us praying with Maurice for Marie ,her fever had broke ! The next day we came to the hospital we saw Marie eating lunch ! She was smiling ,alert ,and talking ! My family could not belive what we were seeing ! Maurice declared it was a miracle, and that it wasn't a coincidence that Marie's room was next to my moms room .We also believed this. The very next day Marie was scheduled to be released . We only had a brief chance to say our goodbyes to the Halls ,we told them it was a pleasure spending time with them ,and wished them the best .Maurice invited us to his home ,and gave us his number before he walked out with his beloved Marie. The Halls touched our lives ,and our prayers are with them .Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00447814428548852230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8041919351515897855.post-16928974760534557302012-07-17T21:55:25.283-04:002012-07-17T21:55:25.283-04:00What a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.
