Turn About is Fair Play

"Each time we face our fear,
we gain strength, courage
and confidence in the doing."

On Tuesday morning I woke up to find the story I sent to an online caregiving site on Monday night had been published. Wow! I was full of lots of emotions. I wanted to shout it to the world. So naturally I sent out a blast email to all my writing buddies, friends and family. Seriously within minutes I started getting messages back. Lots of love and high fives and atta girls. It was supercalifragilisticexpealidocious and then some.

As if that weren't enough I went to my friend Terri St. Cloud's blog and boy was I surprised. She had wrote about about me. And she encouraged people to go read my story. Talk about ripples of love going out and out and out.

I got a package in today's mail. From Terri. Inside was a copy of her new book.
Let me say that a different way. HER NEW BOOK!!!!! Yep, on top of everything else, this creative lady sat right down and wrote a book. I new she'd gotten the galley print but I had no idea she'd actually gotten copies of the real thing.

First of all, I just held it in my hands. Did it vibrate? No. Did it feel full of stars and light and sunshine and love? Yes.

Then I looked at the cover. Terri's son, Noah, designed it. And if I didn't know Terri, I'd have a sense of her just from the picture. The blend of muted blues and greens, the tennis shoe down in the corner, the necklace which mist have some special meaning and the title ... The Fabric of her Dancing Shoes. It all works together to make you want to open the book and start reading.

I know it's going to be a good book because I have read enough of what Terri writes to know whatever she puts on the page is going to speak to my heart. And what I really love is that good or bad, happy or sad, clear as a bell or completely confused, Terri writes honestly about what she's feeling. It is often through her thoughts that I gain an insight into my own.

I listened to Terri's weekly website offering tonight. Talking about the book, she says how scary it is to write your story and then put it out there for all the world to see (I just checked, it's on Amazon!). But she encourages everyone to go past their fears, whatever it is, and do what it is that scares you. Because it is in the doing that you'll succeed. It's hard for me to think Terri is afraid of anything. To me she seems incredibly brave. I think that is because she walks her own walk ... she doesn't let her fear stop her.

I am so proud of this lady. I encourage you to hop over to her site and check it out. All of it - bonesighs, newsletter, cards. Oh, did I mention, her book!!! You won't be disappointed.

[In the words of Terri St. Cloud] Honor Yourself,
Merry ME

Well done to both of you I think!
That's a great quote from Terri and one I work hard at sticking to, even at the dark moments, or perhaps even more so then.
