Trick or Treat

I've been waiting for notification of the grrrand Grand Opening of Sally's Sweet Shoppe in Genessee Depot, WI. Alas it seems that Miss Sally Sunshine is so busy baking, that although she's been open for business since Labor Day, she has not been able to have an official opening.

In the spirit of Halloween and enough sugar concoctions to make your head hurt I've decided to go ahead and steer you in the Sally's direction. I realize that most of my readers are nowhere near Wisconsin. But that doesn't mean you can't appreciate a good treat when you see it. And something tells me if you called and placed an order Sally would find a way some of her treats to you.

A little background: I've been reading Sally's (aka Tracey) blog about trying to find a job for months. I was both intrigued and excited when she wrote about having a conversation with Dani (of 3SistersSpirit) and having a tarot card reading. I'll skip the details that I don't know exactly and get right to the heart of what Tracey learned ... drum roll please ...
Seems she was looking for work in all the wrong places and needed to look closer to home, as in her own heart. Once she did that, things started happening at a pace that amazed her. She zeroed in on having a bakery, found a place, got all her paperwork in order, got some help turning a storefront into a Sweet Shoppe, turned on her mixer and voila! her dreams of work and play all came together like Granola Trail Mix.

I know it doesn't work like that for all out-of-work people. Dare I say even though it's way overused, especially in this economy. But I think the thing I've learned from Sally, besides keep smiling no matter what, is that everything good starts with a heart's desire. From there, with some hard work, determination, and a pinch of sugar, just about anything is possible.

That said, I have not figured out how exactly you are supposed to eat these deliriously delectible divine delights. Talk about hard work!

Tuesday ~ Friday 6:30 am - 2:00 pm
Saturday & Sunday 8:30 am - 12:00 noon-ish
We are closed on Mondays for creative rejuvination!

Oh MY! Sweet Merry Me, how sweet of you to write about my Sweet Shoppe!! More importantly, how sweet of you to ONCE AGAIN round up all of your positive energy in support of my bakery. I am totally amazed at the generous size of your heart.

Each day when I walk into my bakery, the first thing I see is my coffee maker (waiting simply for me to flip the switch) and then my SHINE postcard - reminding me every single day (except for Creative Rejuvination day - my day off) to Shine and that people like you love me, support me, pray for me, and come only from love in their energy for me to succeed! And how can I not then?

Today is the two month anniversary of our shoppe being open. We've succeeded beyond our expectations (and failed in parts as well) and I have learned, and am learning, that I am blessed beyond measure...and really, wasn't that REALLY what my year of discovery was about...to see that the journey not to settle will lead one to greatness and surround you with even greater people than could have possibly imagined were out there!?! (like you!)

And, yes, I am still hopeful of a Grand Opening Celebration...if only I could find the time to do it!! And if I do find the time, I can not wait to send you personal invitation to attend! :o) xoxo

I'm wondering how far away she is from me! He He He....

Don't think my Doc would be to pleased to hear of me ordering anything though...*sigh*

Holy Moly

I knew it had been quite some time since I'd posted anything here, but had no idea it had been since December. Where does the time go? Is there anyone out there still reading this blog.  I don't know what happened, but the words just quit coming. And maybe I got lazy. Misadventures of a Happy Heart A Memoir of Life Beyond Disabilities by Amy Quincy When E-books first came out, I was of the I'll-never-buy-one-because-I-like-the-feel-of-a-book-in-my-hand school of thought. Then I bought one. Then two. Then enough more to realize reading on a Nook was infinitely easier than holding a bound book and turning the pages, especially when reading in bed. Which is where I usually read. I also like the fact that I can make the font bigger to match my diminishing eye sight. I got a new pair of glasses last week and was amazed at how clear and bright the world looked through the new prescription. The saleswoman put a card with tee-tiny writing on it under my nose and I could read with no difficulty at all. Until I got home. Now I'm having to move my head either up or down depending on whether I'm looking far away or close up. Perhaps I should have saved the money I spent on new glasses and bought a larger Nook.
