Education

"I didn't grow up with a lot of money,
I never even imagined being the first lady of the United States.
But because I had an education,
when the time came to do this, I was ready."
Michelle Obama

I read this quote today in a Yahoo news story about Michelle Obama visiting an orphanage in India. She walked right in, took her shoes off, and started dancing to a Bollywood tune the kids played for her.

I fairly wept at the sentiment. I think Mrs. Obama was speaking of the importance of school book education and I have to agree this is pretty darn important in life. Still I couldn't help wondering how many of us are ready when our time comes? Our time for greatness, or our time to make a difference, or our time to lend a helping hand, or our time to make someone smile, or our time to follow our heart's desire.

I think all of life is about learning and being ready [and willing] to dance when the music plays.

Wishing for you a heart that listens and learns,
Merry ME

Like this post and the new look blog.
I think education is the willingness to learn. Cause no amount of books teach anything if the person is resistant to them.
But once people open their minds at any age then the education just pours in and life takes on brighter colours.

I was thinking just the other day that graduating from high school doesn't leave us knowing all we need in order to succeed in life, but hopefully it means we have learned how to acquire the knowledge we still need to take in. If education can teach us how to learn, it is of value. Can you imagine how difficult it would be to navigate the world without being literate?
