I give up. I'm not counting the days anymore.

I called Apple tech Services last week. I was convinced to upgrade my operating system.
"It's pretty much the same," said the nice young man on the other end of the line. "Plus you'll get three months free service, so if you can't figure something out, all you have to do is call back."

He was right. Mountain Lion is pretty much the same as Snow Leopard. And really the things that I've noticed are different are not reasons to go to GQ (General Quarters for all you un-military people). However, it's the little things that are driving me nuts. For instance: I noticed in order to scroll down, I have to move the screen up. I noticed the blogs on my Top Sites used to get a star by them when something new was posted.  Now there is no indication whatsoever that makes today's post different from yesterdays, even though there it is probably brand new.

Would somebody please tell me why it's necessary to "upgrade" something that is working just fine?
Curious minds want to know.

I also noticed that having one of my sisters visit is like being a part of a family again.  Even if we're just sitting on the couch watching a movie we've both seen before, I like the comfortableness of it.

I (re)noticed that when I'm working with fabric, I really don't care much about anything else. It's easy  to bury my emotions with a mountain of fabric and a pair of scissors.

It's a beautiful day in my neighborhood. What have you noticed in yours?

It's how they make money. Or should I say -- even MORE money!
You are right - if it isn't broke, why fix it? But then again, that's the customers' way of thinking (lol)

I'm about to have to figure out a way to upgrade my mother's computer (because some software will not longer work with her old operating system) or buy her a new one (because it says she has no more memory left or something like that every time I try to upgrade her os). Sigh. And about fabric, I notice that same thing. It's lovely, isn't it? xo

For me, my computer is wonderful and also a big stressor. I never know what needs to be done when it acts up. I wish there were a course that would teach only what I want to know.
As for sewing, I used to make most of my daughter's and my clothes when she was growing up. Back then I loved to sew. Haven't done it in years. You make beautiful stuff, and we all need something that takes our mind away from everything else for a while. Keep doing your thing.

Holy Moly

I knew it had been quite some time since I'd posted anything here, but had no idea it had been since December. Where does the time go? Is there anyone out there still reading this blog.  I don't know what happened, but the words just quit coming. And maybe I got lazy. Misadventures of a Happy Heart A Memoir of Life Beyond Disabilities by Amy Quincy When E-books first came out, I was of the I'll-never-buy-one-because-I-like-the-feel-of-a-book-in-my-hand school of thought. Then I bought one. Then two. Then enough more to realize reading on a Nook was infinitely easier than holding a bound book and turning the pages, especially when reading in bed. Which is where I usually read. I also like the fact that I can make the font bigger to match my diminishing eye sight. I got a new pair of glasses last week and was amazed at how clear and bright the world looked through the new prescription. The saleswoman put a card with tee-tiny writing on it under my nose and I could read with no difficulty at all. Until I got home. Now I'm having to move my head either up or down depending on whether I'm looking far away or close up. Perhaps I should have saved the money I spent on new glasses and bought a larger Nook.
